We vote on Tuesdays because in 1845 it could take a day or longer to travel to polling places, and a day or longer to travel back. Voting on Tuesday let people avoid traveling on Sundays. With abysmal turnout rates, should the US vote on weekends?
Where I live in central Texas, we have early voting for two weeks which includes the wknd, and you’re allowed to go to any polling place. On the actual day, Tuesday, you have to go to your polling place, and they’re open from 7am-7pm. They make it very easy, so this isn’t an issue here. It’s interesting how voting is so different all over.
