Does super strict parenting have the unintended consequence of producing kids who lie more often?

It’s logical. Why would your kid open up and be honest about something if they fear what would come after?

Maybe if you say super strict but there has to be some parental discipline and control.

We aren’t what you would consider “strict parents” and our kid never lies to us. I sometimes wish he would. I’ve heard some shit.

LOL. I was the same way Voc. He didn't lie but the truth is sometimes not what you want to hear. I wouldn't change a thing but I do think being far too strict does increase lying.

My wife’s parents were super strict (she had a 10pm curfew at the age of 21 when home from college) and she still lies to them constantly. She lies to them about the smallest things, and at first I’d give her this bewildered look. She’d say “trust me, it’s so much easier this way”, and over time time I realized she was right.
