Because many people don't know how to disagree without hurling personal insults, anti-Christian blasphemy, and/or obscenities. And life is too short to have to put up with that crap.

I mostly block people who are simply annoying or those I'm convinced are either trolling or just too stupid to reason with. That being said I haven't blocked all people who meet that criteria.

I block those who who are anti-Semitic/holocaust deniers. I block trolls. I block “is jaPan. The Same as China,?”. I block someone who only asks sex questions. I block people who call me a lair.
I have probably blocked more conservatives than liberals. I look for honest debate, not an echo chamber. However, I want people to stay polite.

Because some people troll.
Because some people argue around the block and it’s like screaming into the void.
And because some people, like Keyanna, are just vile potty-mouths, which is incredibly immature and inappropriate.

I block assholes, not people I disagree with. If people start personal attacks or being disrespectful, they get blocked. I've probably blocked almost as many people I agree with as disagree with. Has made for a much nicer experience.

I don't ignore people for disagreeing with me and the only users I've ever ignored are spam poll posters. I do think there are good reasons people do though; disrespect, personal insults, and generally very rude and hurtful comments top the list. That's not debate; it's just being a jerk.

Because (1) this app isn’t only about debates, it’s about any kind of poll users want it to be (2) parroting political opinions expressed by “talking heads” is not really a debate; it is repetitive and boring (3) a lot of people take advantage of their anonymity to be extremely rude and disrespectful to others.

The count implies there is only one commenter that has me on ignore.
I don’t ignore people and enjoy different opinions, even if I disagree vehemently.

This app isn't about having debates. It's a polling app meant for your enjoyment.
No one needs to give reasons why they block somebody and it's ridiculous to judge them for doing so. Some people take this app waaaaay to seriously.

Because I don't need spam and personal insults and venom in my life.
I have no problem with opinions very different from mine, but just like in real life, I don't take bullshit on a daily basis. Be reasonable or be gone.

Only if they resort to trolling, name calling without any argument or discussion.
If they do that, they’re no different than a crying infant.

Block as in use the ignore feature of the app? I wouldn’t do that because of disagreements on subjects of discussion.
I haven’t had anyone on ignore (as far as I’m aware; sometimes the button gets bumped by mistake) for the last 2-3 years. Not that I’m not tempted almost every day, but I do that as a general principle, for some specific reasons.
I think it’s fine for users in general to use it, though - for a variety of reasons.
If I *did* use it, though (and back when I did use it a little), I would block the relatively few users who are general jerks, assholes, or bullies, without any positive side to them. Who needs that? I’ve tried talking to some of them; I don’t think I’ve ever gotten through. (I still make some feeble efforts.)

Because they get tired of not being able to support their position so they ignore people who can debate them. They are basically snowflakes of the highest order.
