As a legal US Citizen, which do you value more: freedoms guaranteed By the US Constitution, or national social welfare, universal healthcare, guaranteed wages for all?
Yes, I value constitution however it is like the Bible. Everyone interprets it differently leaving it weak and less effective. Citizens United was catastrophic to our democracy as it used the First Amendment to the Constitution that prohibits the government from restricting independent expenditures for communications by nonprofit corporations, for-profit corporations, labor unions, and other associations. Now, we have a country that significantly directed by money of wealthy individuals and corporate donors that results in less representation of the people that the government serves. This creates a larger divide as this money gets divided into two political party’s struggle for power. This is one example that our constitution interpretation has changed and it is no longer a real framework for success.
I’m not a citizen but I value the constitution
Good to hear that; and it is hoped you will continue to do so. And work to get American citizenship in the near future. Congratulations.
Thanks. 3 years down, two to go.
Guaranteed wages? What’s that
