Republicans needed 2 tiers to accommodate their 17 candidates in the 2016 debates. How many tiers will Democrats need in 2020?

The Democrats are accustomed to a multi-tier system.

I wonder if there will be more than one group how will they split them. Can those with low ratings claim victim status and that it will be discrimination to put them in a second or third tier debate, just like the republicans did.

Probably more than two. The weakest links will be weeded out quickly and then the adults can get to business. Just like 2016.

Yeah, all the ones with 1-2% will drop out early. Some still hung around way longer than they should have. I'm sure that will be the case this time as well.

I think at that point they are just wasting everyone’s time.

I don’t think so. Elizabeth Warren would die to Donald Trump. Actually, most of Democrats at this stage would. The only exceptions would be Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden. Harris is a joke!
