Given there important role in our Republic, should journalists have a licensing and ethics board such as the ABA for attorneys and AMA for physicians? (not opinion writers, actual journalists)

Yes, but I would hope it would work better than it does for the lawyer profession.

I don't think it would be if it was structured in the same way. I would advocate for an oversight board with people who are trained as journalists or trained in law to oversee either of those professions but never be allowed to practice. I think that might be more unbiased. I feel the same way about doctors.
