No.
Not subscribing to the Christian faith as such, but to the general tenets and principals of good behavior shared by Christians and many religions of good faith.
Definitely not. Especially since solid 98% of American Christians don’t actually follow the teachings of Christ, and in fact he would be absolutely appalled.
I was thinking of it more as in ideal stereotypical prototype American. Doesnt mean it's a requirement to be American. That's 2 very different arguments.
And I thought you were Christian also.
And by the way, all 3 abrahamic religions worship the same base god. Islam, Christianity and Judaism. The god of Abraham. A schitzophrenic man who mutilated his genitals and attempted to murder his own kid.
Well, I'm a non-theist, so the heaven/hell thing doesn't really matter too much to me. I am just interested in what others believe the world looks like. If the only purpose I serve in life, I'd like to make sure people stick to their own rules, or question the legitimacy of them. Do you "believe" what you think you believe? What you've been taught to believe?
And I do have reason to argue. Just as much a reason that you do. Especially when it comes to what it means to be a "true American." Or on any religious topic. We all have not only a reason, but a personal obligation. Because it IS important.
You were arguing about who would be going to hell. You dont believe in that so you have no reason to argue it. I also have no desire to argue it with you since you don't believe.
Its like my middle schoolers when they talk back in opposition of what I say to them. I tell them not to argue with an adult, they respond with, I'm not arguing.
This seems to be more and more of a thing here. Grandma, I hope there was no misunderstanding about my interpretation of Hatikvah. I didn’t mean any disrespect.
I don’t usually make a point to post a comment to just say “agreed, excellent perspective”... but in your case it’s so rare that it’s worth doing. Hope you and the wife are doing well, Glock.
