The Democrats want to get rid of electoral college. is this just because they think they will never lose another pres. election
I’m a Democrat and I don’t wanna get rid of the electoral college. Also, in past years I’ve defended the electoral college and detractors were mostly conservatives. I haven’t changed my view I think changing is an asinine and shortsighted idea. I’m not just a Democrat I’m a liberal Democrat.
I’m a conservative and I’m with you
No I want it gone, because it has outlasted its use, and actually promotes radicalism, something that it used to stop against.
Piss off, magical muscle boy!
Thanks @Zimmy You just made my point
You are welcome!
Democrats want a pure democracy...
And Republicans want to keep winning with fewer votes.
Yeah. Duh. Majority rule is a bad idea it's better that we stick to our principles then move to popular vote.
A obviously disingenuous opinion you only hold now because it benefits you.
Interesting. Very interesting that you would think a self-proclaimed existentialist would hold opinions strictly because they benefit him to hold.
I'm not quite sure if this is a feeble attempt to De platformer my argument or to attack my character. Either way it is simply anecdotal to the conversation.
I like the you think a self-proclaimed label gives you cover.
It's interesting that you are still going down the path of either character assassination or deplatforming.
Do you have anything intelligent to bring to the conversation or would you just like to point out character flaws?
Just calling buIIshit on buIIshit, but you do you.
We wouldn't be the country we are today if we didn't have the Electoral College. A lot of our landmark laws would have been voted the other way.
It would be nice if (while calling out bullshit) you would say why its bullshit instead on doubling down and just leaving a bullshit response.
They want to subvert the intentions of our founders to equalize the representation across our land.
You sir are an idiot. The electoral college prevents the most populous states from determining who’s president. In this case it would only take 5-6 states to win an election if it were down to just a popular vote. A better idea would be to eliminate the winner take all electoral votes so you have each electoral vote represented the popular vote in their district.
I meant this for the comment Zimmy left. Sorry

It allows smaller communities to have a voice
So all you don’t like the outcome of one election and all the sudden democracy doesn’t work even we just had eight years of Barack Hussein O
You intend to turn our representative democracy into a pure democracy? So that instead of our values staying true we have majority rule?
That's right up there with becoming a socialist society- basically killing ourselves. Great idea Democrats!
No Intend to keep our representative democracy the way our founding fathers had it
When I look at some of the people who vote and where they get their information from a complete popular vote terrifies me. The only way for a popular vote to work is to have an informed electorate and we are so far away from that now it would never work.
Yeah. I would say you are correct on that notion that it would work better under an informed populace however even with that in place it would still be majority rules. Which is asking for a serious histeria meltdown from our government.
It’s because it’s anti-democratic and failed to serve its purpose.
We are not a democracy. At least not at the federal level. We are a representative republic which is a brilliant system that provides more checks and balances than a full on democracy.
