Your sitting in your backyard with your dog/cat when an endangered mountain lion comes out of nowhere and grabs your pet. You have a gun in your hand and a clean shot but might get a felony charge if caught. Do you take the shot?

Being a gun owner and carrier is a serious responsibility. I would not discharge my weapon merely because I carelessly allowed my pet to roam in an area (even my backyard) that was their habitat.

A backyard is not usually a mountain lion habitat...
if it's a stray big cat-- it gets the zap zap

If I lived in the mountains or a rural area, I'd have two big dogs. Mine are 101 and 102. They are not going to become Mt Lion stew.
