Are most of your favorite singers male or female?
women belong backstage at concerts not on them
I don't like girl singers..
ot to mention women are a minority in music in general. go to an open mic. 10 guy bands, 2 girls playing or singing.
take Kate bush's never for ever. just as well written and performed as pink Floyd's the wall, but since it doesn't appeal to a male centered society, it doesn't get nearly as much recognition
it's amazing how deep you have to dig to get real, GOOD, meaningful and well written songs written and performed by females. .
I like icon for fire so girl
I meant luv not lug
I lug one direction but I like Nicki minaj more;)
They might be giants,Bombay bicycle club.
but I do love the guys too (kisses going out to Neil Young)
Hmmm: Bonnie Raitt, Joni Mitchell, Norah Jones, Judy Collins, EmmyLou Harris, Gillian Welch, Allison Krauss, Mavis Staples, the list goes on and on...
pinkyyousu: Please go read a book on gender. Hell, read a website–Wikipedia will do. It's not the same as sex.

Hmm... Sting, Keane, David Gray, Elton John, Billy Joel, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Ray LaMontagne, Amos Lee, Muse, Stevie Ray Vaughan....etc etc etc. Not a
female one and I am one!
@patriots46 of course how could I have forgotten him?!? And whoever the lead singer of styx is...
Well let's see Freddie Mercury was bisexual and Adam Lambert is gay but they're both men. So yeah. Gonna go with men. Also Jim Morrison, Nathan Reuss of fun. Neil Young, David Gilmour, Robert Plant, and Billy Joel. Hell I'll even throw in Lennon during his solo days.
Females!! Probably because I'm a girl…:) I love Adele, Kelly clarkson, carrie underwood, etc.
I never caught "one direction infection" or whatever it's called. :)
But I do like some guy songs. Like "somebody that I used to know". Awesome song. :)
Fendergirl. Great live. Friends of mine.
I guess the guys are winning my vote.
Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, James Brown, Bing Crosby, Gillian Welch, Neko Case, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Robert Plant, John Lennon, Tom Petty, Van Morrison, Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Sam Cooke, Tom Waits, Iggy Pop
@psycho44 Casting Crowns is on my favorites list, but it's towards the bottom. Britt Nicole, Jeremy Camp, Mandisa, Brandon Heath, Moriah Peters, Anthem Lights, Francesca Battestelli, and Ashes Remain are my top favorites out of my list of 40 or so favorite artists.
One Direction, Ed Sheeran, The Wanted, John Mayer, The Killers,Example, and others. Mostly British guys :D (except Nialler, he's Irish)
Robert plant, Roger waters, rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson and many more I can't think of off the top of my head.

Bon Iver! check him out. and Beirut
@ncbuc oooh I like them :)
I love Yura Hatsuki and Vocaloid singers...so female.
Punk lovers. Look up nondenoms on YouTube. Kickass female bassist.
Goldy, whatever parts you're born with is both your gender and your sex. Any perceived discrepancy is the result of an overactive imagination or a mental disorder. Quit bitching at Tony. He's keeping the rest of us entertained, so go whine somewhere else.
A lot of chick singers are too trebly for my tastes. I like a nice, deep sound.
Hipster69, are you for real? Between your comments and your screen name, I can't tell if you're trying to be a hipster caricature or being genuine.
Eminem. Ellie Goulding. Michael Jackson. 2/3 are male. So male it is.
Crosby, Stills, & Nash, Chicago, Mellencamp, McCartney, Journey, Lennon.
Lol of all my favourites, only one ended up being female.
...I could have sworn I liked more female singers, but I guess not.
If you want something NOT mainstream, enter Eloy on YouTube .
Somewhat inspired by Pink Floyd.
And then enter: Anyone's Daughter Moria
I love those progressive / cosmic rock songs that go way over the commercially appropriate 5 minutes.
@prterri that's SOOO mainstream.
Just to even things out, let me name some great female artists: Benettar, Patti Smith, Dolly, Madonna, Loretta Lynn, Aretha, Supremes, Patsy Cline, Donna Summer, The Judds, The Donnas, Heart, Faith Hill, Lauren Hill, Gwen Stefani, Annie Lennox, Bonnie Raitt...I own albums from them all.
I said female at first, but now that I think about it I realize that more male singers are in heavy rotation on my iPod. However, I will ALWAYS turn it up loud and sing along when a Shakira song comes on (in Spanish... most of her English stuff is crap).
