Should bad laws be disobeyed
No but they should be changed
What defines bad law
There is no law more important than the law you give yourself.
All laws should be obeyed.
I don't know about disobeyed, unless its a flagrant rights violation. But changed definitely!
Changed - Yea
Disobeyed - No
So segregation laws should never have been disobeyed?
Absolutely. The people who peacefully break bad laws are the reason bad laws change or are overturned. Key- peacefully
Speed limits are bad laws in my opinion, and I break them daily
Speed limits directly reduce highway fatalities.
Had to say yes. "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's...." Doesnt mean i wont fight it, and to be clear, i don't quantify a "bad" law and an "immoral" law the same. I refuse to follow an immoral law.
Illegal or unconstitutional? Yes.
"Bad"? I think you open it up to a lot of interpretation on what is good or bad.
How about unethical and immoral laws?
Again, according to whom?
Abortion laws are a prime example. Immoral to some, but still on the books.
civil disobedience. absolutely. now...how to differentiate between bad laws and laws the public just "doesn't like"...?
I think your other poll goes to answer that to a point.
Of course. Laws themselves can be illegal
And if I'm on a jury, I will vote Not Guilty.
