When you place an order at a restaurant for pick up, do you leave a tip even though you had no official server?
I do, but not very much.
I work at a restaurant, and the bartenders place the orders for takeout behind the bar. I never really tipped for takeout until I found out that the cash from the takeout goes towards their shift total and they end up getting paid less at the end of the day because of it. Now I give them something.
Thanks for the heads up. Ill check with some server friends and see if there has been a change around my area on how it works.
Not usually for takeout.
It kind of depends. If they put a lot of work into carefully putting it together, yes I do.
If it's chills or something like that I go with no. The people at the to go counter make a higher rate than regular servers (here at least they do) but if we are ordering something like sushi I do tip because of the skill it takes for that.
