To return to frequently visited websites, do you usually use a bookmark or your browser's URL auto-complete?

I have 10+ years worth of bookmarks and probably 25-30 sites I visit regularly in the course of a week. I can't imagine not using bookmarks. I clean them out about once a year to delete bookmarks for sites that don't exist anymore.

I have so many websites saved that way it's terrible

I keep all of my most used bookmarks in my toolbar -- icons only -- for the quickest availability to any site I know I'll want to visit again. This is so much faster than using auto-complete.

I use my saved sites in last pass for ones I log into. For others like news sites I use autocomplete so I use both.

Some of each. Frequent sites I drag into favorites. Bookmark only folders of same old same old. I.e. building supplies, investment companies, art sites, political, etc. it becomes a pick an choose ou o he folder.

I can and do use autocomplete but more often I just have each tab saved so it comes up when I open the browser. It seems quicker than bookmarks and pages come up automatically reminding me to do tasks daily that I might otherwise forget to do.

LOL. I just looked at the age statistics. Bookmarking must be old school. I'll be 41 in August so I'm hovering between the two pie charts. I wonder how quickly the statistics change? Is love to see this question come up again once more people's birthdays have gone by. :)

With Safari on my Mac, bookmarking is extremely quick and easy. Two clicks of the mouse and I'm there without touching the keyboard.

I only use bookmarks for pages I want to go back to easily but not often. Otherwise, I know the URL and/or it's in my autocompletes.

I let google autocomplete my entry.

After years of using bookmarks, I made a start page on, with my most-used URLs, and I'll work from that, plus a few bookmarks on the bookmark bar. For some stuff I just use the browser's autocomplete. So, sort of a mix.

I avoid everything google that I can. I like the bookmarks bar on Firefox a lot.

Make a bookmark to remember it initially. Eventually you go there enough that you use autocomplete.

Using a favorite or a bookmark avoids using the keyboard.

I never remember to look at bookmarks

Neither. I simply reuse the Google search I had originally used to find it.

Generally bookmark. If I'm working on a project involving quite a few pages I might not need again for a while I usually build a local HTML page of the URLs I'll be using, keep it open as the first tab for handy navigation, and save it with the project files for next time when I'm done.

Spoof vectors are to thwart the list of browser bookmarks. (I.e. malware and Trojans).
Sometimes it is better to verify every time.

Safari has a bookmark bar at the top. So I just hit the button. No typing necessary. :-)

03/23/13 6:28 pm

Well I bookmark things so my auto complete knows what to complete it with so yeah ????

I don't know what it's called, but I type "f" and Google is like "Oh, it's all right! We've got this for you!" and my fingers are all "Praise The Lord Almighty!! We didn't want to have to write 'Facebook' out, then with the '.com' and stuff.. *whew*"
But yeah, autocomplete...

I normally type like 3 letters rapidly and click enter. It really surprises me when it takes me to another site, the bastards.

I'm curious, is it because over 40's don't know how to auto complete, or under have never used all of the features?

Usually have them as a tab or go to my the my.faves site (my homepage) where all my frequently used sites are.

03/23/13 6:15 pm

A lot of times I make bookmarks but forget I made them. Then just use auto-complete

My browser suggests a lot of places that I am not inclined to visit.
