One time I was in NYC and wondered who all those people were in evening clothes in the middle of the afternoon walking in the same direction. I realized it was people heading to the Tonys.
I watched that evening and hurriedly called and got tickets for the revival of “Kiss me, Kate” and “Copenhagen”. The director of both, Michael Blakemore, won best director for both. That was the first time that 1 person won in both categories in the same year. I thoroughly enjoyed both but “Copenhagen” is the one I still think about.

I love old, classic musicals. Fred and Ginger, Gene Kelly, Les Mis, A Chorus Line, Westside Story, Cats, Funny Girl, Fiddler....there’s a lot of good there.

I won’t entertain any of the new school ones that are based on movie adaptations, etc. Unaffordable and lacking any nuance regarding their mission to tell me what to think, too political and politically correct.

I ABHOR awards shows, if that’s the real question.

It has been so bad in years past I didn’t bother to turn it on . Hollywood here’s two words “You Suck “

I'd commit suicide by immolation before I'd voluntarily go to a musical. Screw that fruity bullsh*t.

Dont care about watching celebrities pat each other on the back while spewing obscenities at other people! And they are so stupid they cant figure out why their ratings are so low!

Some I have liked. Westside Story for example. When the plot and dialogue are more prominent than the jumping into a song ever other minutes.

Really? The poll question about the Tony Awards should be about whether De Niro’s remarks were appropriate. The pollster didn’t ask it cause they don’t want to give a nice big stage for us all to weigh in on the left’s ever increasing desperate behavior. De Niro just let us all know how good of a job Trump is really doing.

Yes, a very disjointed question. Maybe this question should be asked some time: there are 50 states in the USA. Do you like chocolate milk?

Honestly I enjoy some musicals like Les Miserables, Oklahoma .., etc. But this ridiculous and unacceptable behaviour from actors and people of fame has to stop. I'm actually excited for the fall since for the first time I can actually be part of the message that revolts against Hollywood, the media, and counterleft attacks

Didn’t watch it, matter of fact didn’t even know it was on. In my state of mind & health, watching self congratulation actors periodically bash Trump & Conservatives during it, wouldn’t have me watching it anywayโ€ผ๏ธ

I don’t think Broadway musicals are as great as they used to be! Where’s the great songs.

Carousal and My Fair Lady are currently on Broadway. You can’t get tickets. I saw Wicked twice and want to see it again.

I enjoyed Robert DeNiro’s speech the most

Another entitled lefty letting everyone know that Trump went to Penn but is still inhuman.
Why anyone puts stock in anything a guys says that plays pretend all his life is amusing.
It is simply yet another example of why Trump got elected - the more they whine and complain - the more they denigrate themselves - if it is possible.

Trump does not need help to campaign.
He just keeps checking off all his promises: Iran, Paris, NK, taxes, judges, employment, growth, regulatory, trade and offered a path to citizenship for 1.8 million illegal immigrants.
That makes the left mad and they run on sympathy for MS13 and raising taxes.

The results speak for themsleves.

People like Nemacyst pretend to know what they are talking about, but they are just brainless idiots who think that if a person dislikes Trump, they must be a Clinton fan. Not so, I dislike them both, F*ck Clinton, F*ck Trump, but mostly F*ck Nemacyst, the wannabe all knowing a$$hole.

I must be missing the part where you presented any facts at all, also missing the rationale for assuming that I am liberal. I said that I hate Trump, that means that I hate Trump, not that I love liberals. Everything is so binary to some people.

I like ONLY a few *musicals. Generally, "No"...

*Does "South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut” count as a musical? If so, add it to my very short list of fave’s! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

This is a trick question! I love musicals, but hate the Tony awards nights. So I guess I respond yes? Cause I do enjoy musicals!

06/10/18 11:07 pm

Not usually, and I think awards shows are be coming increasingly irrelevant all around.

The Left's silence in this is equivalent to Muslims who hold their tongue when radicals in their midst shout "Death to America!"

Say nothing = do nothing = silent support.

Or did that only apply to Germans and Italians in the 1930s and 1940s?

I like Disney-style musicals - where most of the action is in regular conversation and then they sing a song to sort of emphasize the point being made. As I was watching Frozen, I realized what I hate about Broadway musicals - there's a scene between Elsa and Anna where they sing their conversation. It was grating. But the rest of the movie was good. I couldn't sit through the Chicago musical.

06/10/18 8:49 pm

Absolutely. I saw Wicked on Broadway a few years ago, and loved it. I’m straight too, and am proud to admit that I love the theater.

Since then, I’ve seen most of the Broadway musicals, and catch at least 5 a year. Hamilton was amazing. Even if hop-hop isn’t your thing, or history isn’t your thing, it will blow you away.

These people are unbelievably talented. They are the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and Olympian caliber singers. If you open your mind, it will amaze you.
