Hurricane season just began. There will be storms. Then politicians and the public will demand federal aid. But why is rebuilding the federal government’s responsibility?
Because the government is still n charge of the infrastructure.
It is the government job to help. the states and local communities. Some disasters are too overwhelming for the areas hit to cope with alone. Citizen all help either by giving to the Red Cross or paying our taxes.
It shouldn’t be.
You live in a floodplain, you’ve already invited risk.
It's justification for "global warming"
That is one of the reasons why we pay taxes.
And that is nonsense.
Maybe we could figure out a way to neutralize the storms
<preparing popcorn for all the Dunning Kruger comments about town planning, residential flexibility, and disaster resilience>
100% agree that it shouldn’t be!
Because the Feds represent a central point to draw resources from? Could easily be done by an agency that is not a political pawn like FEMA. Maybe Amazon or Google?
Gal ... if you plant yourself on a dangerous cliff, why should I have to pay to bail you out?
I don’t care what you do or think or say, Think.
I was considering the logistics of the challenge alone.
Deeper pockets and part of the feds primary responsibility is to try and keep our citizens safe
LJ ... that’s simply not true. If it were the government’s job (which it is not) to keep all citizens safe, the. The government would prohibit building in disaster prone areas. Period.
It’s not the government’s job. If you build there, you should take on the risk yourself.
Think: it is part of the government’s responsibility to TRY (operative word) to keep us safe. They obviously can’t all the time.
