Most of the news is fake news. Do you agree or disagree with that? (Variation of the SoH main poll question)

NO. Most of the news is a selective presentation of what is happening. With some editorializing. If one is willing to take the time one can general discover what is fact and what is crap, by checking several sources.

I don’t think it’s fake, I think it get “opinionized” before it gets to us - the lowly recipient. Once any item of interest has an intermediary between speaker and listener you introduce the chance for “edification”. So we need more front-line reporters and fewer talking heads.

Most of the new isn’t investigative news but rather opinion. A majority of the sound bites heard are rehashed Fromm one agency to the other without the other doing any due diligence as to veracity. Investigational journalism as it existed in the past is about as prevalent as doctors making house calls. Journalism has become lazy and redundant.

Not true at all. This is an insult to all of the hardworking investigative journalists many of whom risk, ruin, or lose their lives doing their jobs.

I didn’t say all. Read again.

Actually I think you may have misread what I wrote. I didn’t say “all news” either. I said to claim that “most news” is fake is “not at all true”.

Do you consider news outlets like The Wall Street Journal or the New York Times Ltd be fake news? Do you think they don’t have independent and investigative reporting?

It is what they choose to report that extends their bias into a false narrative.

But that doesn’t necessarily make their reporting “fake “.

By volume (noise), maybe; by volume (quantity), no. Superficially it may seem so, to those who are satisfied to get their “news” from tabloid or sketchy social media headlines, from sound bites, from selective aggregators promoting an agenda, or worst of all, from the talking heads on newsertainment shows, but it takes so little effort to get past the background noise that it is only true for the laziest, most apathetic, or least intellectually curious among us. The term “fake news” was invented and is only used by those who wish to distract and change the subject. The true meaning of the term is: “There’s more to the story, dig deeper.”

Most of the liberal MSM "news" is based on rumor from unnamed sources . . . That's not news!

News is one thing, political agenda is another.
If you report news as it is, without personal opinion, it is news.
We do not have that with the MSM..

Most mainstream news outlets to me are “fake news” or biased reporting.
