My "friend" is a rude person. He is manipulative and constantly argues with anything I say. Why do I feel bad about cutting ties even though I don't really like him as a person?

You are a good person and have loyalty. It’s hard to cut ties, even if it’s best for you.

You are probably too polite and /or don't want to hurt their feelings. But if you distance yourself by not returning calls or emails, being too busy to spend time with this person, hopefully they will move on. If you have to be near him... eat garlic and do other stuff to be less appealing to be around. Get creative LOL. You need to be around people you enjoy, life is too short to spend it with duds... no, REALLY!

I know the feeling. I got a coworker who tries to make me look bad whenever others are around, and is real person when it’s just us. Tries to cut me down multiple times a day. Only thing our “friendship” is good for is advice and helping eachother out.

You probably feel bad because you have low confidence and care too much what people(him) think about you. I’m the same way, but growing out of it quick.

I could be wrong though
