Do you think it's quite possible the US will become a dictatorship within the near future (a generation or two)?

Give it time, and it will. It inevitably will. Republics die with age.

As long as we maintain our 2A, it will be very difficult

Yes. If the left gets their way I could see us going the direction South Africa is heading in.

No, we're not set up for that.

I think that would be rather unlikely but I suppose it’s still possible.

I think we will probably maintain the outward semblance of democracy even if that democracy becomes more and more a puppet show to justify rule by and for a wealthy elite.

When did that start.
Where will it end.
The financial enslavement inches along.
For some: Pay your fair share.
For others: Get your fair share.
For a few: Build a $4BB boat. Keep the change.

We won't keep democracy because we never had democracy.

I don't consider two generations the near future, but I think it's a possibility within that time frame. Would the people of the U.K. have envisioned two generations ago, the state of their nation today? The number of Americans who seem to embrace the idea of a bigger and bigger, more controlling government are laying the foundation for it.

The UK? They have been free from tyranny since the Magna Charta 1215!
Other European countries have had dictators in the 20th century: Spain, Germany, Italy, Romania, Yugoslavia.
It's probably the British heritage that made us immune to tyranny.

No.. The Clintons started the globalization of the US.
We came very close as Americans to losing our Nation to Globalization, not Dictatorship.

Just sayin, it originated with FDR. Clinton certainly didn’t help

Started with the Federal Reserve. No the international control of our currency started long before that.

It started with FDR?! What was Woodrow Wilson, chopped liver? We've had at least loose ties and alliances with other nations since the Revolutionary War, which is why if you remove her robe, the Statue of Liberty has hairy armpits. Ooh la la!

John Jay single handedly sold us out to the European bankers. Just after the revolution.

Not as long as the citizens are armed.

I'd say not as long as the military and National guard don't swear allegiance to a wannabe dictator.
Our pea shooters won't do much against our modern military.

There is something like 100 million gun owners owning over 300 million guns.

Imagine if just 3% of the population went into revolt. That would be almost 10 m armed revolutionaries. The us military would be overwhelmed by the sheer number of combatants. The dictator would fall in months, maybe weeks.

Let's hope this will never be put to test.

Yes; as the ignorant grow in number and clamor for governments to become more and more involved against their lives.

Unlikely. It's been avoided for almost 250 years.
The only question is how long it will take on this poll until someone claims "we already are" 😜
