Why was SNL not cancelled when Michael Che said’ “Pack up some extra Atlanta Super Bowl t-shirts and wrote them a check with our money, you CHEAP cracker!” live on national TV, talking about Trump?

I find both of your answers quite appealing, sir.

He said it as a comedian (?), not on twitter where everyone speaks the truth...

Are any white people actually offended by that term?

Yes. Would it make a difference? It’s a racist, derogatory term.

To me cracker doesn't seem as bad as calling someone an ape.

We’re not descended from apes or an ape-like ancestor.

I’m assuming he is just one cast member on that show and the show is not named after him. If they tried to make a Roseanne show without the title character, it wouldn’t make much sense.

So why didn’t they kick him off then?

Since I don’t own the network that owns SNL, I can’t tell you. But it’s different. The show The Ranch recently (within the last year) fires Danny Masterson. The show Seinfeld only stopped airing because Jerry Seinfeld wanted to stop making them. When the show is named after the main star, you can’t really continue it after.

Forget the name of the show. This is about celebrities using racist slurs openly and any repercussions both by the corporations that hire them and the public. You can’t judge Roseanne in the court of public opinion and not Michael Che.

It’s literally about the name of the show in this case. Roseanne can’t exist without Roseanne Barr. SNL has had hundreds of cast members throughout the time of the show. Cast members come and go all the time. I don’t know anything about that one cast member, so I can’t speak about him.

I understand why they cancelled her show due to her name. That had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Michael Che made an openly racist comment on national TV and not a word was mentioned by liberals. No one said he should be fired for his bigotry. See the double standard?

I’m not disagreeing that liberals are biased when it helps their own kind. They never call out their own. It’s not like this is a new phenomenon.

Michael Che has a very small part on SNL and would hardly be missed. He could be easily replaced as there are many more unknown comedians out there who are funny. I don’t find him funny at all.

I was actually interested in people's response to this sad it got downvoted.

He has said cracker more than one time in different sketchers. He won’t get fired and the show won’t get cancelled because it’s coming out of a liberal’s mouth.

You could have phrased it better than (double std)

Wait I meant “double std.”

Pepsi ... I get that English is difficult for some. “Std” is an acceptable abbreviation for the word standard. STD is an acronym and as such should be all capital letters.

But logic and grammar are often lost in those who can think of nothing but personal gratification.
