Patently false.
All persons which can differentiate between entities based on physical aspects or aspects of identity are capable of being racist.

One can even have racist ideals which do not hold any regard to a specific person.
The idea that all of a certain race ought to be a certain way, and that they have no right to deviate from that template is rather racist.

They can be racist, but not against white people, only against black people.

Any imperfect human can be racist. No race is exempt.

Anyone can be racist. I personally feel people look at the little accounts of racism that don’t matter rather than the ones that do.

If by “black people” you mean white people, the. Yes.

EarlyBird Portland

C’mon, you know that’s not true. Skin color doesn’t determine whether or not one can be racist.

SupremeDolphin They.them
05/29/18 11:35 am

No, James. Some black people are racist, against other black people.

What’s your definition of racism if it can be from a black person towards a white person? Is it accepted or just made up by you?

SupremeDolphin They.them
05/29/18 1:00 pm

Biologically, race is a social construct. It was created to justify colonialism. Africa didn't colonize Europe, but the other way around. White people benefit from the colonial white supremacist system. The attitudes of white people are thus racist. Standing up to power isn't racism.

dlinz001
05/29/18 1:03 pm

So you have your own definition of racism, good to know

SupremeDolphin They.them
05/29/18 1:05 pm

No, I have a historically informed definition of racism. It's reductionist to say, "racism is when you don't like people who look different." Life isn't so simple. Social structures don't come from nowhere.

dlinz001
05/29/18 1:06 pm

Would you say the majority of people share this definition?

dlinz001
05/29/18 1:09 pm

And you can argue their is more to race than just the color of the skin. There are differences in physical performances.

SupremeDolphin They.them
05/29/18 1:12 pm

You can't identify anything beyond general tendencies, and then you'd have to prove that correlation equals causation.

It's almost like race actually is a social construct, and standing up to those who hold power isn't racist.

dlinz001
05/29/18 1:16 pm

Look at sprinters, out of 125 who broke the 10 second mark for 100meters, only 2 were white, you think this is coincidence? Look at cornerbacks and skilled players in the nfl, how many of them are white, look at the NBA.

SupremeDolphin They.them
05/29/18 1:19 pm

I didn't say it was a coincidence. I said it's a tendency, and that correlation does not equal causation.

dlinz001
05/29/18 1:22 pm

Then what would be the causation with the amount of evidence presented, you think there is something more to this? It’s not like only black people ran track or play football or basketball and white people don’t, I could understand if that was the case.

SupremeDolphin They.them
05/29/18 1:27 pm

I can't give you a comprehensive list of all possible causations. But one that I find plausible is that black people are systematically discriminated in other areas of society, such as academia or the business world. Sports are the only area in which many can succeed.

dlinz001
05/29/18 1:30 pm

That may be true, but if white people have all the money and resources and play as hard shouldn’t they be the ones who are faster and come out on top?

SupremeDolphin They.them
05/29/18 1:38 pm

Because white people don't try as hard, knowing that they have tons of opportunities? Perhaps those who have the best bodies for sports end up not pursuing sports? I don't know, there are tons of factors at play. You can't demonstrate that race is anything more than a social construct.

dlinz001
05/29/18 1:42 pm

I just did their is proof that one race is superior at certain physical activities, you think it’s because they don’t try as hard? Have you ever been on a sports team, kids killed themselves to be a starter, and only so many can be one. You think white kids in the south where football is basically a religion are like eh, I’m not gonna try that hard, yea right

SupremeDolphin They.them
05/29/18 1:44 pm

You're just speculating. Back up your claims. Prove to me that in this cause, correlation equals causation. (Hint: you can't.)

dlinz001
05/29/18 2:00 pm

I’d say the evidence is much more than speculation

SupremeDolphin They.them
05/29/18 2:01 pm

In this thread you've done nothing but speculate.

dlinz001
05/29/18 2:03 pm

Speculate:
form a theory or conjecture about a subject without firm evidence.

I have plenty of evidence to show black people are faster and better at skilled sports positions, where is the speculation?!

SupremeDolphin They.them
05/29/18 2:09 pm

You have zero evidence that there's an concrete relationship to skin color.

dlinz001
05/29/18 2:13 pm

Other than the breakdown of positions of players in the NFL and skin colors, amount of white runners, percent of black people in the NBA, which has a sample size of up to 100 years and thousands upon thousand of people who play the sports, I guess that’s not good evidence and doesn’t show correlation 🤔

SupremeDolphin They.them
05/29/18 2:37 pm

The second link basically repeated what I've been saying, that there are a lot of reasons, and that race likely isn't one of them.

That being said, it did raise the issue of how blacks in the US are unique to African blacks in that there was a degree of artificial breeding in order to reproduce traits corresponding to strength, etc. That's not something I had considered.

dlinz001
05/29/18 2:44 pm

It’s also from 1997, they have found different dna strands attributed to different peoples origination to be correlated with various physical performances. Point being is there is still an overwhelming amount of evidence that shows that black people have out performed and are better than white people at sports, while only making up 10-15% of the population. While they have some speculation on what the causation may be, whether it’s something in their dna or traits evolved from years of running, there is a correlation of skin color and performance in skilled positions or sports

Disagree. There is more reverse-racism than actual racism.
