Should we be asking a baby permission to change their diaper?

No. As a parent, I own my child’s rights and responsibilities. You should ask me before changing her diaper.

Of course and I will also ask my dog if she wants to shit in the rain or in the kitchen.

Good luck getting an intelligible answer out of a baby!

People are grossly overreacting to this story. The basic concept is one based in Montessori, and has nothing directly to do with sexual assault (assuming this is about that story from a month or so back). It’s not like you aren’t going to change the diaper.

The idea behind it (teaching kids about consent) is a good lesson, but one that should be taught when they are old enough to understand. And not under the context of something that needs to be done for health/hygiene reasons.

The woman that proposed this is off her damn rocker.

“Mommy needs to change your diaper, I’m going to need you to give me consent to do so. Shake your rattle once for yes and twice for no. Shake three times for a diaper rash that leaves you totally miserable!”

I didn’t realize changing a diaper was a sexual act. Maybe we should be watching the people that think it is

No. That Australian woman who proposed that was obviously insane.
