Honestly, you look down on adults who don't have jobs and aren't disabled in some way.

With the addendum “...and are neither sufficient from savings nor pursuing employment.”

No. Never. I would envy them, if anything.

I know lots of people who have been unemployed for long periods (years) who are desperate to work and who are constantly job searching. They are all older and are trying in vain to reinvent themselves. You never know people’s situations so it is best not to judge. That said, there are lazy people whose lack of ambition I don’t understand.

I agree with Earlybird. If they aren't mooching off of people who bust their ass 9-5, Mon-Fri or standing on the street corner begging for pennies, then I don't care. It is kind of annoying when people refuse to help themselves, though. They could enhance their livelihood but would rather be unsuccessful.

Odd collection of thoughts. My concerns are almost the opposite. I don't mind them asking for a handout, but I resent the able bodied collecting welfare benefits for years at a time.

How is that odd? People asking for money on the street corner and people receiving government assistance are essentially the same... They are both scrounging off of people who work for a living. It is upsetting to me that these people on street corners have enough energy to stand and ask for money for hours on end when that energy could be put towards finding a job or working.

The big difference is at least the panhandler has direct contact and expresses appreciation to the giver.

Many federal/state 10+ year subsidy recipients want more and resent the workers who pay the taxes that support them.

If they’re taking government help, yes.
Otherwise, not at all.

No. I don’t know their situation. I don’t judge them.

No, I don’t worry about other people’s lives.
