Is getting a prenuptial agreement a sign of distrust or a reasonable decision?

As a young couple that aren't bringing anything into the marriage, I see it as unwise.

As an older couple with children from previous marriages, I see it as necessary.

I have built a lot of wealth with wife #1 and she dies. Enter wife #2 with children from a previous marriage. If I die, and there is no prenup, then wife #2 can give all wife #1's possessions to wife#2's kids.

This scenario happened to my mother. She ended up with nothing from her mother.

With the divorce rate being 50%, a prenup is reasonable and advised.

It’s reasonable especially since most marriages end in divorce.
