Net Neutrality Laws have been repealed today in a 3-2 day vote. Do you think the internet will change significantly? If so, comment how.

Read The Master Switch by Tim Wu and you’ll see. We’ve done this before.

The only case of data being treated differently that I heard of before net neutrality was one of the cell carriers (T Mobile I think) had a plan that did not count data used for music streaming services toward your monthly limit. I don’t think it would be too bad if they brought that back.

The internet won’t change, the cost to access it and what content you’re allowed to access might.

It’ll be fine. The internet was just fine before NN.

simply, internet access providers who also own media and content will advantage their own via fast pipes and either charge for, slow, or downgrade the quality of competitors content. Netflix subscriber with a Comcast pipe? Sorry about that - unusable at 4k streaming ......

if NN is repealed, access providers should be separated from content providers. in this world it is right to deny the AT&T / Time Warner merger.

I hope a law suit will stop this nonsense and return NN to its previous position.
Otherwise we are all controlled by those that can afford speed instead of content.
The repeal of what has become a utility is insane. Just another FUBAR by the Trump administration.

I’m kind of hoping it will get tripped up somewhere, like by the courts for example. But if it actually makes it through, the internet is going to suffer massively.

Change will come slow. They won’t want the government to rethink their decision real quick.

The slow change is a strategy to ease the public away from their stance by slowing adapting it until they get what they want.

That exactly what I was thinking when I saw Pai was speaking Finny, that and that he kept appealing to the times prior to 2015 when net neutrality was in place, just not title II. The guy is not stupid for arguing like this, he’s malicious.

All of you are saying it’s going to change, they’re evil, blah blah blah.
So, what is it? What are you so scared of? Why are they evil?

Stoney... eventially we will be paying more money to access content that is approved by the provider. That is where it is heading. As they said aboven we will be eased into it. They will use a ton of lube, and slide it in very slowly.

Well Finny is a self described conservative and I’m an anarchist so maybe it’s not the Democrats....

You’re kind of coming off as unpleasant at the moment Stoney, do you have a reason I should think differently about you?

I couldn’t care any less what you think about me.
