Do you ever buy Music? (Digital, CDs, etc;)
I buy a CD maybe once or twice a year. I’m very selective about what groups, bands, symphonies, that I spend $ on.
It's become rare that I do buy it but when I do it's always on a CD. I don't recall buying one this year. Last year I bought at least two, The Monkees and Metallica.
I have always look a music as a Business and the musicians that’s there profession they chose to make a living. I pay so there music can continue earning a living. I’am old school in thought. You don’t get something for nothing. I love good music. Crazy me.
I've found that a lot or artists, more recently anyway, almost support you pirating their music. Almost. They make so little from record sales as it is and the more people that get their hand son the music, the more people, they hope, go see them live, which is where they make the vast majority of their money.
A few years back, The Offspring purposely leaked their own album early. Made them look anti-establishment, a big seller to punk rockers, and I'm sure it drove ticket sales up. All about marketing.
The music industry has done a flip flop on the financial model. Years ago, a concert was really just a marketing event, not really a money maker like record sales. Now it is the tours that make money, that is also part of the reason converts cost so much
