In this YouTube video, Donald Trump and Milton Friedman each give their views on trade. Do you support protectionism or free trade? (Note, free trade means no US tariffs even if other countries have tariffs).

I'm for free trade. Trumps decision to pull out of the Trans Pacific Partnership was terrible.

protectionism failed us miserably and lead us into the great depression

that’s the dictionary definition of free trade

We can’t control what other nations do, but we can eliminate our tariffs, and create free trade for which we will be much better off.

Did you watch the video? Friedman knows his stuff.

international trade left to its natural course without tariffs, quotas, or other restrictions.

without tariffs. meaning both sides have no tariffs or restrictions

Tariffs harm both countries. We can’t control what other countries do, but there is no valid reason to harm ourselves by having tariffs.

It is a misconception to believe that a tariff helps one country at the expense of another. They hurt both countries.

There is no ‘true’ free trade today, even with agreements like nafta there is tariffs imposed by other countries. There is national security concerns with countries like China making 90+% of all components for electronics that Americans use everyday of their lives. It creates an incentive to put preference on certain countries

I really don’t care if other countries have tariffs. For their sake I hope they don’t, but I really don’t care. I care about our country. Our country would be better if we would get rid of tariffs.

Protectionism hurts the citizens of the country that imposes it just as the Friedmans say.

I think if we raise tariffs on imports then we will become a lot more independent. Protectionism is against my values of freedom but it looks like we need it as a wake up call to how reliant we are on cheap labor. It's alarming.

US has stupidly built its economy on free trade, obviously isn’t all it’s made up to be being that China was able to bypass that and still have a booming economy

Do you think that there should also be tariffs between states? How about between cities? Should individuals be allowed to trade freely, or should there be government quotas on individual trade? Gould we apply the same restrictions on speech too?
