Hypothetical: Donald Trump urges congress to declare war against North Korea citing “human rights violations and democracy”, this motion is passed after some deliberation. Do you support the move for military intervention into North Korea?

I’d want a stronger reason but yes, I will always support military action against dictators or govts that harm and oppress their people.

No, not for those reasons, although since we only have s Truce in an unfinished war, the question is irrelevant.

There would be no need. We are already at war with North Korea.

If we struck without them striking first then China would back NK. A war with China and NK would be an incredibly bloody and destructive war. So my answer is no.

They have threatened our allies numerous times, they literally launched missiles that landed off the coast of Japan. Not only that but they kill their own innocent citizens on a daily basis.

The weirdest thing about this whole mess is that if the US launched a ballistic missile at anything the whole world would be trying to kill us.

Such a dreadful idea, I’d be lost for words if this was even legitimately considered.

Can’t even imagine how ugly of a war that could be.

NK knows they’re in a bad spot, but who knows what kind of hacking and dirty nukes they’ve been planning.

No. We have had enough wars already.

You were saying we should nuke them a few weeks ago..

Only if we know for sure that they’re going to attack us.

The reasons listed in the poll question are not good enough reasons to launch a nuke.

I support military intervention if it is necessary for the safety of our allies and the United States 🇺🇸 of America.

No. That would be aggression unless they’ve done something first.

Huh. The only rightist to actually oppose American agression around the world.

Hmm how about the numerous missiles that landed off the coast of Japan.

You mean, missile tests that landed in the ocean?

Only if we run out of options. Imo, we should assassinate Little Kim and prop up the new guy with the understanding that he dismantles the nukes.

The Chinese army is huge but maybe overrated.
In 1980, they raided Vietnam as a "punishing action" (not sure for what).
They lost 80,000 men within a few days.

1. the war machine must be fed
2. Trump needs to create a new diversion

Negative. I think we'd tick off Russia if we did that. I think, if anything, we should go into NK with China and Russia if they're up for it. Definitely not go in by ourselves though. Not because we can't win, but because this would be a good chance to shale hands with our former adversaries

We made the same mistake in Vietnam.

Agree and this is a good analogy. It's comparable in so many ways. Just a very scary thought.

Hypothetical: a coup erupts within North Korea and requests our support.

Most likely we support them.
More likely we are them.
I wish we could trust ourselves.

Yes. I think that we should strike them now before things go beyond the point of no return and either they go to war with us. Perhaps not likely, or we must forever accept a nuclear NK for the next 50 to 100 years or longer, putting East Asia in constant disarray and also have NO as a leech on the US and the world as they unstablize it. Perhaps it's time to finish what we tried to do in the Korean War which never officially ended, just a cease fire.

Also we should stop being naive and thinking that China will stop NK, and put a leash on them. Not going to happen.

Not an acceptable casus belli for me.
NK is a sovereign country.
I don't favor killing thousands to force them to treat their own better, overthrow has to come from within like in the Arab spring.

It wouldn't be to get them to treat their own better, or we'd have intervened decades ago. If we go to war with the DPRK now, it's solely due to the DPRK's nuclear arsenal and threat to US imperialism.

Yes but Trump would cite this as a reason, it "sells" better.
