How do you define liberty?
Freedom to act within my own rights without infringing on another's rights.
The ability to live free as the way you choose without persecution, as long as you do not harm or directly threaten others.
The ability to do what you want, when you want, how you want, without affecting someone else's right to do what they want, when they want, how they want.

Fundamentally in regards to the individual, ideas that cannot be obstructed or abridged by another by any means of coercion. In this regard, it includes all personal thoughts and beliefs (speech, religious preferences, personal preferences, and personal ethics). In regards to the association between one individual and others, I would define it as the absence of coercion by a more powerful force.
What about actions?
In regards to involvement between more than 1 individual, then liberty is the absence of coercion from a more powerful force.

What do you see as the government’s role in securing your liberty?
Definition: “the state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one's way of life, behavior, or political views.”
To me, liberty is the ability to live your life exactly how you wish to live it. Liberty isn’t always a good thing - for example, it’s not good for a rapist to have this ability. So, liberty must be kept in check by other important ideals - justice, equality, safety, etc.
In addition, liberty doesn’t always mean no regulation, no laws, and no government interference. Business owners are authorities that impose restrictions on the lives of employees, and thus they infringe on the liberty of employees. So, we need laws to protect employees from this infringement.
Freedom from social hierarchies that fail to justify their own existence to you and those they claim authority over.
The ability to do as you please
What do you see as the government’s role in this?
The government needs to protect its citizens but also stay out of our lives as much as possible.
Freedom of self determination
What do you see as the government’s role in securing liberty?
Self determination in society means that government legislates in such a way that provides adequate protections in which the individual can pursue their goals, without harming society. Thats kinda a bullshit answer, but im not a political major.
You don’t need to be a polisci major. Most people in the country aren’t, and yet we all still need to answer this question.
