Have you ever spent more than $1000 on a Christmas or birthday gift?

Bought a MacBook for my sister when she started college (a birthday gift). It's held up pretty well

I don't believe in forced hand outs, but I do believe in helping those I care about. I also sponsored a student at my local university but it was my choice to pay his tuition, and he was a deserving young man.

Cool beans. I can sometimes afford to give like $20 to someone. Most expensive gift I ever bought was a pair of Swarovski earrings for...gosh...$500ish? I want to say $700 but that sounds too much for crystal earrings. I don't remember how much they were, but definitely less than a college tuition

My mother paid for my education. She is very wealthy and wouldn't even notice if I paid her back. So I have helped several students that didn't have the same opportunity. Sometimes with room and board, sometimes books, sometimes tuition. It is my pet project.

Everyone I help has to promise to do the same for another student when they can.

That's extremely interesting how you, as a libertarian, built your financial relationship with people. While I, as a statist, served the government in order to get free college, and try to convince others to do the same to repay their debts
