When given the choice, do you prefer to be a passenger or the driver of a car?
Let me sleep & wake me when we've arrived.
Driver, I like to be in control :)
Drive fast and take chances!
I'm tired of driving
Passenger; I don't have a license and I don't want one. Better yet, I'd rather ride a bike or walk.
Driver...unless my husband is the driver for a couple of reasons...he's a really good driver AND he's a really critical passenger. :)
Car ride naps >>>
I hate driving, I hate having to focus for long periods of time. I like sleeping in the passenger seat to much.
Depends on the car...
Since I'm single I drive almost all the time. I will always choose to be a passenger if given the opportunity.
Passenger! Ideally the third passenger. This way the second passenger can help keep the driver awake while I sleep.
Toonces the Driving Cat
I prefer to drive because it cuts down on arguing on how to get there. My husband has no sense of direction and taking directions from his wife isn't man cool. Plus he doesn't listen well
Driver... Because I can sense direction better than the GPS can.
I'm a female who likes to be in control. I'd choose to drive.
I hate driving. The people around me never seem to able to, so to avoid purposely running other people off the road, I usually choose to not drive if possible.
Depends on the destination. If driving to a heavy populated area with lots of city car traffic I'm a better navigator aka passenger than driver. I can spot the street signs easier I guess.
I get car sick easy, sooo driver.
Me too :(
I don't mind driving but id much rather kick back and relax or maybe even get some sleep in the car.
I wish I could do that. When other people drive I'm gripping the handle on the door so hard my knuckles turn white. I do close my eyes a lot, in a panic though.
hey sometimes its fun to sleep while driving
Don't mind driving but my mom & dad used to have to drive me around as a baby to get me to stfu & think it's effected me as an adult b/c I love being driven around. It's soothing.
Driving and I would pay a $5 gas tax if it meant we could get some better roads than what we have. I'm tired of tolls being in the news!!!
Tolls are a tax. Why aren't they fixing your roads with it would be the question.
They are in the news because they want to build a tunnel with tolls. It's a poor city struggling to stay afloat. It's ridiculous, but VA wants to cut the gas tax and toll it. It's ridiculous.
I like driving but prefer if the hubby does.
I love driving. But if my hubs is in the car he drives, he has awful vertigo and gets super carsick if he's not driving. And he complains a lot if I'm driving.
I don't have my License on me learners permit it is killing me not to have my license! I want to drive!!!!!
Passenger, in the back, in the recliner.
It depends on who I can get to drive. I would want whoever is the better driver to drive
I hate driving!!! I make my husband drive us everywhere if we're going together. And when my son learns how to drive, he will be driving me around too! Lol
Driving is the one thing I prefer having control over.
If jimmy johnson's driving I'll be ridin' shotgun
I have carpal tunnel, and driving aggravates it, so I'd prefer to ride than drive.
...And they said you'd go blind from doing that all the time.
What do they know?
The lack of efficiency practiced by others makes me so mad.

Depends, sober-driving / drunk-passenger bitching about the way he/she is driving
That's poor taste!!!
I have brother who has several DUI's and a nasty meth habit...that kind of stuff affects everyone.
I feel your pain Long. My brother has an extreme fetish for transvestite midgets. He blows all his families money flying back and forth to Taiwan to get his fix.
Funny, mine actually makes money from blowing
i hate driving, but unfortunatley i only trust myself behind the wheel
I said passenger; but only because I don't want to use my gas :| if it were anyone else's car.. Driver.
¡Oh fer cheap!
Driver. I have serious control issues. I drove 12 hours straight instead of letting someone else drive, I get nervous and panicky when other people drive. This is the only major argument me and hubby have.
Unless there's few to no other people on the road and no stoplights, I'll ride shotgun, please. I'm a very aggressive driver.
I am in love with my car.
Got a feel for my automobile.
It depends, my husband usually drives when we're going somewhere together and that's fine but if I'm going somewhere with my mother in law I'll drive because her driving annoys me, she goes too slow and doesn't pay attention to signs.
Driver, unless its long distance, than id rather be the passenger.
I prefer to drive. I'm most relaxed when behind the wheel of a car.
I hate putting people out since I can't drive. I can't go anywhere unless I find someone to take me. I live somewhere where there's no busline, so I have to depend on someone. everything is so inconvenient. it sucks
I also hate the feeling of "using" friends by asking for rides. In the last 2 places I've lived, I found an apartment within easy walking distance of where I worked - the last time, directly across the street. That made shopping problematic but at least getting to work was never an issue.
I hate driving. I like to look at the scenery and entertain my kids.
Since I don't drive. I'd rather be a passenger. But every once in a while I threaten to drive anyway. Guaranteed to wake everybody else up.
I love to drive, so I try to drive all the time. Besides, half the people in my life scare the s**t out of me when they drive, so I would rather drive then die.
No one else is allowed to drive my car... In others people's car it depends, if they drive safe and it's a safe car... Go for it.
If my dad or boyfriend is driving I choose passenger. Anyone else and I want to drive.
Democrats are lazier than Republicans.
Great; make it not only political, but about laziness. I don't suppose there are ANY other possibilities. And of course you'll have to include the (currently) 30% of Republicans who rather be a passenger in your analysis, to be fair. Compare to 39% of Democrats, & you make a sweeping generalization?
The most you can truthfully say is that (currently) of SOH users, 9% more Democrats than Republicans prefer to be a passenger, that close to 2/3 of each prefer to drive, but nothing about reasons. Does that REALLY sound like you can draw the conclusion that Democrats are lazier?
Susan for the win!
Yeah.. Has nothing todo with politics dude.
It's always intriguing when there are differences in demographic groups, and 9% is pushing the boundary between "eh" and "interesting" (for me anyway) but you can't ignore other factors, known & unknown. And y'all know how I feel about stereotyping & generalizations...
I REALLY wish that basic statistics (not just the numbers, but the methods & how to properly analyze) was a required high school course. For many reasons.
So women must be lazier than men too. Hmm.
Izak81 just got his permit, so guess how he will vote. No prize to the winners (unless Tony is buying!)
Pretty strong boy/girl difference
A lot has to do with.. If a husband and wife are in the same car. For some reason, the guy usually does the driving.
Or at least my dad does, plus I've seen a lot of those comments
I'll race my husband for the drivers seat. He's an awful driver. So much so that my family has begged me to be the one to teach my kids how to drive.
