DSH (C-CA) proposes Common Core Abolition Act
Bill passes @lucaval @DSH
Nay. As a teacher in training and as a former public education student this legislation would be the beginning of the end for public education in America and give America an expiration date.
Bullshit! It's time to get political agendas out of education! Students need education and not indoctrination.
? I am neither advocating for nor defending politicizing education. I am saying making public education the purview of state and local governments is the WORST possible idea.
HUGE, MAMMOTH YEA‼️
One room schoolhouses in the nineteenth century did a much better job educating children, because although not funded like it is today, everyone wanted to be educated.
That was unimaginably false.
What's false about it soulless moron. Pioneers moving West carried large numbers of books in those covered wagons of theirs, in spaces that could have been used for additional food. Today, we have Liberals valuing identity politics over education!
Ok? So that means that they were better educated?
At least they studied the basics, without having a lot of additional social indoctrination added to their curriculum.
How is a richer understanding of mathematics and science indoctrination? A more nuanced and truthful look at history? A broadened and more intellectually honest approach to literature, health, and philosophy? Indoctrination is forcing people to accept lies and myths as truth without once providing them alternate views of thinking. Public education aims to expand knowledge and reasoning, not bog children down in dogma and rhetoric.
This bill is nonsensical. States already set education standards. By abolishing Common Core, the federal government is necessarily limiting the education standards available to the states and thereby violating the 10th amendment.
Also what does "Education standards will be set up by state and local governments" even mean in practice? Does this mean that states and local governments are allowed to avoid federal rules preventing segregated education, deny their students an evolution curriculum, or glorify the Confederacy? What are the limits to how drastically this simple sentence could decimate federal laws on education?
Skinner, don't fret! Kids spend more time being indoctrinated by television than studying in school.
Huge YEA, this is greatly needed bill.
Great bill that all conservatives should vote yea on!
Big big yea!
Yea yea yea yea yea
What do you think of my concerns above?
Yea. A great and necessary bill to curtail corruption and falling standards.
My first bill ever was almost 100% exact like this and it passed. But I will vote for it again.
Oh, I'm really sorry for copying your bill. 😬 I went through the list of past bills to make sure I wasn't copying anyone else. I must've missed it. I won't let it happen again!
No, it was a long time ago. Glad it was brought back up!
No because of 2
That's the whole point of getting rid of common core
I disagree. The Point is to create an education system that actually works for students, not just to let the states decide what bad ways the want to reform the education system.
Yes and abolishing this common core garbage is a good fist step, next eliminate the dept of education. Yet another government failure
I grew up in Idaho. Went to school there. The STATE government constantly fucked things up for our education. The solution isn't less government, it's more efficient government. We need to reform the education system, not just give up on it.
Yea. Common Core has only added confusion and bureaucracy to the education system.
Common Core Abolition Act:
I. The Common Core State Standards Initiative will be abolished.
II. Education standards will be set up by state and local governments.
Summary: The implementation of the Common Core State Standards Initiative has been shown to be an overreach of the federal government. It makes teachers' jobs harder, and many children are unable to comprehend material. This bill will abolish Common Core and give state and local governments more freedom when it comes to education.
