Would have said grilled long ago, before I discovered the wonders of the cast iron. I have since evolved to sous vide, but still use the skillet for that last sear.

I can be good with either. At home 8 prefer to use the grill because there is no clean up.

Always grilled. The weather has to be pretty awful to justify frying a steak in a pan.
Depends on the chef/grill master. I can make your day with a steak done either way honestly. Pan seared is if you want more pronounced flavor and seasoning, grilling is better for a beginner as it gets a good taste and is hard to wreck.
Agreed. There is a reason all the great steak houses pan sear and then finish in the oven.
Just had some pan-fried pork chops tonight. Grilling loses a lot of the flavor.

Also why are SOH polls posted in the evening and they usually all drop at once shortly after the photo polls? I liked when they were disbursed randomly throughout the day.

Grilled and finished on a hot iron skillet to a perfect medium rare if rib eye or strip and rare for a filet.
If I have to grill only, then charcoal with mesquite wood chips to the temps above.
Grilled, basted with butter, & done medium well👍🏻
I have some leather soles you can put that butter on and eat.

If it’s prepared right a medium steak is the tastiest (imo), but medium well can be just as tasty if not over cooked into the well done category.

I've dined at Ruth's Chris, yes. I've had steaks at all the chains. It's the single standing steakhouses that are typically the best. One of mine is a local place called Killen's.
I love getting my steak fresh from a butcher and making it myself honestly. If i can’t do that, i love high(er) end surf n turf/steak houses.
Nope, they just they eat steak tartar, that’s the difference between the beasts & humans with evolved tastes.

Osoul, I agree with you that I prepare a steak better than any establishment. The Costco up the road sells dry aged prime beef on weekends. About every other month, I'll get a prime, bone-in ribeye about three inches thick with a nice cap that's around 60 oz. for about $45. Now that's some goooooood eatin'! How's this semester going at Syracuse? Did the lacrosse teams finally get over the mumps?
Semester is winding down!! Headed home for Thanksgiving break as we speak! After that, 2 weeks (😱😱😱) of classes then it’s finals, then i’m HOME FREE. I’ll have GRADUATED!

Open campfire or charcoal, I like the smoky flavor.
I prefer grilled but in the winter months I will do a reverse sear on my steaks.
