As long if you're consenting adults, I don't care what you do in bed.

I am optimistic about the support this has received, though it is far short of the required threshold. I will be resubmitting with the word "marriage" struck out, as that seems to be a deal breaker for many, though I stand by it as a laudable goal. I will point out that the language currently being voted on would not require churches to perform marriages they don't agree with, only the government would need to recognize those marriages that were performed.

I would be more likely to support if you drop the last clause. I don’t think it’s the federal governments job to tell the states what they can’t make laws against.

PKG - It’s not that we just don’t want churches to have to perform “marriages“ that are unbiblical; it’s that we don’t want those called “marriages“ at all. The word “marriage“ should be reserved to the church and the government should stay out of it. The government may use the term “Civil unions“ if it wishes.

Nay. This is completely unacceptable to Christian Conservatives. America subscribes to the Judeo-Christian definition of marriage (one man, one woman, faithful to each other for life, no divorce) which dates back some 6000 years. You won’t destroy that without a bitter fight to the death, since we simply won’t back down and betray our God.

Didn’t really mean to preach a whole sermon on it. But I’m very serious about this subject.

Talk about complicating everyone’s taxes! I haven’t even touched on the morality of this bill.

Again, first get rid of financial benefits due to marital status, then I'll support.

I don't think you need me to comment, to know what I think of it, but this is an awful bill. We can't let people run amuck and commit any act they want. I don't wanna live in a world where degeneracy is protected by the federal government. Incest, pedophillia, polygamy and other vile Marxist practices must not be tolerated. Neither should legal marriage between gay couples or adoption for them.

We need to make a stand. We are at war, we cannot let the left destroy the last bastion of moral character in the us or our values. The NF is the only party still fighting strongly against these things. We must resist this evil

That you would put homosexuality in the same boat as pedophilia and incest makes me want to punch you

So I'm assuming your the more masculine lesbian in a relationship? Am I correct in that assumption

bower8899 ...
11/14/17 4:04 pm

Well, no, I've never actually punched someone. But I want to.

And lesbian relationships aren't defined by heteronormative terms

Again, I have to ask, what exactly is so wrong with polygamy?

I agree, what’s wrong with polygamy? Is it hurting you?

The problem is that in the US, marriage has many financial benefits that include many tax benefits. If there were no laws regulating marriage, then many people would commit fraud by simply marrying their family members or having multiple marriages at the same time to get the special financial benefits.

bower8899 ...
11/14/17 4:09 pm

Well we can always establish new laws for this

jztheman Connecticut
11/14/17 4:15 pm

Bower, the problem is, many people will get away with it before we can. I would say pass a bill regarding the concerns for the tax fraud and all of that stuff first, then repropose this amendment. That is why I am voting nay, too many loopholes. I'll vote yea on this amendment once the fixes to the loopholes pass.

What's wrong with polygamy?

Jkllink VC President
11/14/17 3:24 pm

MrAmerica, why should the government stop people do what they please. If you’re not hurting anyone or their property than I don’t see an issue, it should be the governments job to control what consenting adults want to do. If you don’t like that stuff, that’s your choice but someone else may like that and that should be stop because you dislike it. It’s like stopping people from eating pineapples on their pizza, even though most people dislike pineapple on their pizza that doesn’t mean we should outlaw pineapple pizza.

Jkllink VC President
11/14/17 3:24 pm

*it shouldn’t be they governments job*
