Are you in favor of California splitting itself into two or three states?

Well if a largely liberal state was to split, it would still have the same number congressman but would gain four liberal-leaning senators. Sounds good to me. Let's also give DC and Puerto Rico the status of states.

That would give the country four extra senators most likely democratic. Go for it. Just don't let Texas do it.

Formalizing the reasons to NOT talk?? That’s asinine.

Yes. Let the crazy liberals leave. And let them take ALL the criminal illegal aliens!

They would not be going anywhere. They would have a stronger voice in the Senate with four extra senators.

No. For the reasons Senate listed below.

Unless somehow I were put in charge of drawing the lines. In that case, yes. I’d make two new Republican states and leave the third state as basically communisttopia.

No.., we'd lose our unity and character. This is a beautiful state because of it's geographical, demographical, and lifestyle diversity. Cutting it into five States would end that.

And remember, Republicans, this just means more Democratic senators.

Rural California has been underrepresented for a long time. Whatever the big cities want, they get. The California government only cares about Democrats in urban areas.

You can apply the same for all states, doesn't mean we have to break 'em all up. You don't hear Texas Democrats complaining.

That's because I don't live in Texas, and we're not discussing Texas. That's why we don't hear Texas Democrats complaining.

Please understand that my area (State of Jefferson) is like if you took San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and Portland, and gave them joint custody over a slice of Alabama.

It's most of Northern California and Southern Oregon. I think California wouldn't lose much by giving up the Northern half, and Northern Oregonians already hear banjoes when passing through. Just let us have it already.

It's interesting... if we want to talk big reform, then this might be a good plan to even out State Population.

They are discussing making East and West California not North & South

I'd have to get more information, such as what the new states would be and how the change would directly affect my life.

When I lived in Upstate NY we always wanted Downstate from Albany south to drop off and make their own state. But they still haven’t. Yes, split CA and split FL and NY too.

IL should be split. Downstate vs Chicago

Right. In order to really get a hand on solving regional issues you have to make sure the region with the issue gets the attention they need instead of constantly supporting another region because they are more densely populated.

Yes, California encompasses way too many different people of different political views and is way too large population wise to only have 2 senators

As a Southern Californian, I'd be all in.
