As an employer, would you hesitate hiring someone who is a smoker?

I wouldn't completely disregard their application, but it's something I would take into consideration.

Only because I work from home.

Of course I would. Productivity will be decreased as they are out on multiple smoke breaks and my other employees will become bitter and resentful for having to pick up the slack. In an 8 hour work day, 1-(5) minute break an hour =40 minutes of lost productivity plus they are taking their hour lunch.

As long as they're not smoking in the building I don't care. Their life their rules.

I would. I'd probably pick a qualified not-smoker over a smoker.

Seeing people smoke behind restaurants is a turn off to me. So if I were in charge of a restaurant, I'd only hire non smokers to keep a clean restaurant image.

It depends. Smokers smell and can cause asma. If I was running a dentists or another business where they would need to be in close proximity to someone(face especially), I wouldnt hire them.
