Do you use any proprietary software which was pirated, cracked, or used for commercial or private use without a license?
I don't but I know people that do.
Oh wait... I did download a video once when the copyright to just view it was about to expire. Does that count? I'll explain why in a bit...
But otherwise, no. I respect that people have put time and work into software (just like music, movies, etc.) and I won't take advantage of getting it for free. If I was ever tempted, listening to MrWolfe explain how many people that hurts in addition to just someone you may view as a "rich artists who doesn't need the money anyway." (And even if your excuse is "Well, I wouldn't buy it anyway..." I think you're just lying to yourself... at any rate, you *are* using it. Just don't.)
OK... So it was the astronaut Chris Hadfield's video of him singing David Bowie's Space Oddity IN THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION. I heard about it ON THE DAY THE COPYRIGHT EXPIRED. I watched it all day. Then a friend gave me a link... I downloaded it.
Later Bowie arranged to have the copyright renewed. I deleted my file of the video.
Way back I bought a bunch of floppies for the C64 from a kid that contained cracked games.
Today, what comes closest is a YouTube downloader. They used to be common then disappeared.
What I have now is a workaround app that still does the job.
Own? No. I Pirate videos occasionally but never download them.
