Sexual assault is sexual assault. No one who does that should have any sort of power at all. Once he is for sure proven 100% guilty then he should absolutely step down
Sexually assaulted women won’t come forward because we live in a society where their abusers can become the president.... it’s pretty f****d up world we live in right now!
Since he’s a Republican I assume that he will be elected and all the accusers will be attacked and discredited. But if he was a democrat....then absolutely step down!
No, Democrats with accusations don’t last long (see: Clinton impeachment, 2017 Hollywood accusations, etc). Republican accusation do take a while though, if at all, for the step downs (Ailes, OReilly, Trump, etc)
There are plenty more where nothing was done.
Not sure anyone should step down or get fired based solely on accusations.
Salem comes to mind.
We have a legal system such as it is. We should use it.
Clinton’s impeachment was overturned less than 2 months later and it didn’t hurt him or Hillary ONE BIT! It’s ALWAYS Democrats that get away with it, while Dems EVISCERATE any Republicans that have sexual misconduct, usually because Republicans run on a family friendly agenda.

He shouldn't step down. For instance, Clinton never stepped down due to "accusations". In fact, he admitted to many indiscretions and never stepped down.
Why? Let's say he sets a precedent and steps down. Our electoral process would grind to a halt. Any person would be able to remove any candidate of their choice by making baseless claims. I'm not saying that he should stay in if he actually did it. I'm saying that we need more than a random person making accusations to meet the threshold of someone stepping down.
Again, until there is proof he should do nothing as it has been nearly 40 years since this alleged incident. Way too convenient for this to come out right before an election. It would have came out before his previous elections if it was true
Weinstein has charges, and Spacey admitted to doing it 'while he was drunk'. Some of their cases are legitimate, many of them I believe are fake, especially Roy Moore. A good example can be seen in Dan Schreinedee, nickelodeon brainchild who for decades has been accused by of being a pedophile by former child actors, yet the media doesn't report on it.
Actually both denied the accusations as well, as the least the first few days. Spacey said he had “no memory of the alleged incident” and Weinstein denied it.
"But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years"
That's an admission and as far as Weinstein there was documented evidence in contracts
This is the first I’ve heard of it. Thanks for tagging me in, Bower. I haven’t had the news on today, and haven’t seen it in my FB feed, but I’ve been busy with my granddaughter today, so I might see something else soon.
I tend to lean toward the thought that if this was true, why wasn’t it brought out in the last 40 years of his political career.
Especially since it’s WaPo, who has endorsed his opponent, and the main ones speaking against him are McConnell, who was shamed by AL when they voted for Moore against McConnell’s endorsement, (& others we’re not in favor of here in AL, like McCain). I’m sure this stung, since McConnell has ties to AL.
If it IS true, and can be proven, he will have to drop out, because the state of AL will not put up with that, even from him, imho. After all, we just got rid of a Governor that was fooling around with a woman 30 years his junior after celebrating his 50th anniversary with his wife! So if it’s true, it will be a moot issue as to whether I would vote for him.
I find it hard to believe they will have proof from 38 years ago, though, or it would’ve already been used.
If it’s not proven, and he’s still up against Doug Jones, and there is no other Republican candidate that takes his place, I will still vote for him against Doug Jones.
3) Another thing to keep in mind, though I don’t think it will matter to some people—is that there is a big difference in how people looked at age differences like that back then and now.
My own mother AND my mother in law were both 15 years old when they got married. My father was 25, and my father in law was 19. That was considered quite normal at that time. And that was the traditional way things went throughout history—usually the guy was a bit older—to provide for a family, because there was no birth control, so the woman usually got pregnant within the first year of marriage.
Girls were considered to be old maids if they made it to 16 or 18 and didn’t get married.
4) Even in 1979, when this supposedly took place, I think the average age for a woman to get married was 18. I was a virgin on my wedding night, but I knew girls that had been having sex with older boyfriends for years in 1979. I always thought it was irresponsible for parents to allow 12 and 13 year old girls to be dating guys 6 years or more their senior, because you know the guys were wanting sex, way before those girls were ready for it. I’m not sure that I knew any girls that were dating guys in their 30’s, though. I did know one girl in high school that was pregnant with twins, and several others got married as seniors, including myself.
32 and 14 is still a HUGE age difference. And she is claiming it was non consensual.
Last time I checked , 4 more women have caused him of similar things.
And I'm sure there would be another republican canidate. Mitch McConnell said if the allegations proved true he would want Moore to step aside, and he wouldn't say that if he thought that meant the Democrat would run virtually unopposed
I found this, that I thought you might be interested in, Bower. I’m probably out of this convo for the weekend after this because I’m watching all THREE granddaughters this weekend! Lol Fun Times!
Over the course of American history, the most commonly observed age of consent was 10 years.
In 1880, 37 states had an age of consent of 10 years while 10 states kept an age of consent at 12, and Delaware maintained its age of consent at seven years, having lowered it from 10 in 1871.[23][24]
2) In the late-19th century, a "social purity movement" composed of Christian feminist reform groups began advocating a raise in the age of consent to 16, with the goal of raising it ultimately to 18, and by 1920 almost all states had raised their age of consent to 16 or 18.[25]
By the mid-1970s, there was widespread sympathy among homosexual activist groups for lowering the age of consent for all sexual activities (partially due to the disparate ages of consent for same-sex and opposite-sex sexual activity),[26] with many gay publications freely discussing lowering it for boys.[27]
These tensions and antagonisms continued among activist circles until the 1980s; however, since the 1970s, gay liberationist groups promoting frontline advocacy against the age of consent were falling into decline.[26]
It wasn’t until 1995 that the Landry and Forrest study concluded that men aged 20 and older produced half of the teenage pregnancies of girls between 15 and 17, and states began to more stringently enforce age-of-consent laws to combat teenage pregnancy in addition to prevent adults from taking advantage of minors.
