I️ just spent an hour and a half on the phone with verizon trying to get my newly (professionally) installed internet running. The call ended with them deciding to send out a tech(tomorrow.). Does on the phone “troubleshooting” EVER solve the issue?

Rarely in the consumer support world. In the professional stuff, it can. However the pro support lines are not starting with the assumption that you or their rep is an idiot.

I️ had to explain to three different representatives that yes, I️ did indeed enter the password correctly.

Nope. I had picked up a new cable box from Spectrum because my other one went totally dead. I hooked it up and......it wouldn’t work. Called spectrum and that didn’t work. The person in the phone wanted to continue talking but I told them to send a tech because it was bigger than a phone call fix.
Sure enough....things had changed and been upgraded through Spectrum and the tech spent 45 minutes fixing both TVs and replacing the modem and router. Good thing it didn’t cost me anything.

I’ve found apple support to be extremely helpful, spending hours on the phone with me troubleshooting until my problem with iTunes was solved.
