I actually think it depends on the structure of the bed itself. For example, the one in the tucked picture, I don’t think, would look right if it were untucked, but I also am not sure that the one in the untucked picture would look right if it were tucked.
Untucked. It all feels the same when I'm asleep, and the time spent tucking the sheets in could be much better spent doing crunches or researching video games.
Untucked. I hate having my feet confined so I always untuck the ends, and I even like the covers loose to wrap around myself. (It's a lot easier to make the bed, too, if all you have to do is toss a comforter over in the morning. I *can* make "hospital corners" if I have to - I did it my entire childhood and adolescence - but I have no need to do that now.)
I don't know if Gunfighter06 belongs to a political party, but I seriously doubt he's a Democrat. I, on the other hand, am. Take a look at our comments.
I voted for books and carpet, to go with untucked. It will be untucked by morning anyway, so might as well skip a step. I'd want a headboard to lean my pillow against, but not badly enough to go for that spartan old-timey looking bed and room on the left.
