Agree or Disagree: People with ANY type of mental disorder should not be allowed to have guns.
2/3 of Americans have some classification of "mental disorder". You'll have to be more specific.
No need for me to be specific. I’m talking about any and all mental disorders
I think the number is higher if you look at the most recent listing of mental disorders. Most people can be categorized with at least one disorder.
Unless their psychiatrist approves them.
Welp I cant own guns then. Minor ADD
Too much of a liability.
We had a fatal shooting in Roseburg last year. The murderer was mentally ill. The mother knew it. The mother knew he had potential to kill. It she posted that he should have the right to loaded automatic weapons. Will he use that right. Now we have a lot of dead people.
Some learned liberals believe that conservatives have mental illness
Both parties have mental illness
I guess it would depend on the mental condition, as other users have stated
Yes, Crazy, I ageee with you!
I didn’t say my view in the poll, but just proposed the statement. But hey, at least we’re not arguing lol. For now
No more guns for transsexuals.
ADHD as a kid.
Minor anxiety and depression.
You may be the one in 500000 that will crack.
I am of the mind that everyone could be diagnosed with a mental condition if someone studies them long enough.
Sorry you have OCD no gun for you.
Agoraphobia too bad no gun.
And people that have been dishonourably discharges
Those bulimics running wild always shooting up the place
I’ve got anxiety and ptsd. Even if I wanted a gun, I’m pretty sure I can’t have one because of the ptsd.
What is “normal?” My impression is normal is constantly changing.
Mental health is not an exact science. As much as I deplore what happened in Texas, we must be careful not over react. It’s a fine line.
Domestic abusers and people with anger issues that get you Court marshaled and dishonorably discharged definitely shouldn’t be able to legally own guns.
Who decides the mental disorder?? The government, an anti gun state legislature?
The American psychological association determines all mental disorders
This user is currently being ignored
Nema ... men who think they’re women are mentally unstable and should not be allowed to own guns. They have a extremely high mortality rate — especially once they realize the irreversibility of the horrible mutilation they done to their bodies.
But transvestites aren’t transgender
Crazy ... that’s precious that you tried to be relevant. Please, keep trying.
I’m just playing devil’s advocate
I noticed you're speaking on behalf of the trans Community. Tell me are you trans or know somebody who is trans?
Im not. But i used to know a guy who transitioned to female but we lost touch
No cause then if you have adhd you couldnt carry
No. ADD people shouldnt have guns?
If then issue is severe enough for pharmaceutical intervention then I would say no. As a person with autism, I would say no, if they were prescribed drugs. This would render me unable to own a gun myself but there have to be some limits
Liberals do realize that under this policy Transgenders couldn't own firearms, yes?
What do you think then?
I may not agree with what they're doing, but that doesn't mean they should have their 2nd amendment rights taken away.
No. Not all mental illnesses are as crippling as others
I have to disagree but strictly because it's my personal opinion relative of my own life and lifestyle.
I've long argued that real gun control needs to take into account the environment that we're looking to control and implement meaningful measures to do so. This concept of having "gun free" zones without little to no enforcement of such is a joke which I believe is really played out by the gun lobby.
Apologies for my run-on sentencing lol
I have ADHD, I don't think it's ever prevented me from doing anything
Is it severe enough for medication?
I sometimes take medication to help me focus but it's not very often. It just helps me focus a bit, I've learned to have self control.
Only those that negatively affect their ability to judge right-and-wrong.
No. That would include people with OCD, high-functioning autism, ADD, and many other people who are perfectly capable of owning a gun, but are different mentally than some others.
I ageee with you! Lol
My thoughts exactly
Depression is a mental issue, anxiety, eating disorders, etc. Too broad.
Plus it would violate hippa for drs to share diagnosis.
Diagnosis is not a process that should limit 2A. No chance to appeal or present evidence against the diagnosis. Too much power to drs without due process.
ADHD and OCD come to mind making me say disagree.
Or maybe the autism spectrum, they aren't dangerous.
Paranoid schizophrenia is the most dangerous mental disorder for gun owners.
Right, I didn’t even think about autism.
Agree about schitzos though. Definitely too crazy.
I wouldn’t say schizophrenia is the most dangerous, as a person using certain chemical substances could be equally or more dangerous
Is using chemical substances a mental disorder for the sake of this poll? If so then I agree, crack heads need not apply.
Substance use disorder is a mental disorder. And even certain medications can cause psychosis
I'd say no, drugs enhance personality traits and lower inhibition, but whether you have enough self control depends on your personality.
Just take alcohol, a drug: there's both well behaved and nasty drunks.
Side effects can take over self control though with overpowering drugs. I see your point with alcohol though
“Kids, buy guns, not drugs. Paid for by the NRA”
To be honest, I don't even think a person with OCD would want to shoot a gun.
Why? Just curious
I guess he/she wouldn't want to shoot it. It's loud, and possibly scary for them, especially the trigger and hiw the gun "pulls away," if you understand that.
I don’t see how that has to do with ocd though
Eh, just a thought.
Mostly Agree, but I would also say that it depends on the type and severity of the mental disorder.
Please excuse my error in the answer choices. I meant “agree.” Unfortunately I can’t fix it now
I was like damitttt lolll
I know the feeling. 😔
