To be clear, Congress voted, and Trump signed, a bill to repeal an Obama executive order that prohibited certain Social Security and Vets receiving benefits while having someone else manage their financial affairs from purchasing firearms. This was a blanket executive order that imposed a ban without legal due process.
There is no correlation between having someone else handle your finances and mental illness. However, the agenda driven fake news media jumped on the repeal with deceptive and simple minded statements like "Congress and Trump approve gun sales to the mentally ill!"

Please explain this to me, especially if you are a conscientious conservative. Conservatives believe we don't have a gun problem in America. They believe we have a mental illnesses problem in America. They also believe there should be few, if any, restrictions on guns. They encourage everyone to arm themselves and carry weapons at all times. Would that not lead to far more mentally ill people carrying weapons around at all times? Many mentally ill people are already looking to die. They just want to take a bunch of other people out when they go.

Time to break out the handy "Mass shooting checklist":
1. Send thoughts & prayers but don't actually do anything useful. ✔
2. Argue over semantics of the term "assault rifle." ✔
3. Argue over semantics of the term "terrorist" - if Muslim use it, if Christian/white use terms "lone wolf," "mentally ill," "troubled past." ✔
4. Congress does nothing and the NRA increases donations just in case. ✔
5. Wait for next one, rinse, and repeat✔
