At least 27 people & the gunman are dead & at least 20 more injured after a shooting at Sutherland Springs Baptist Church, SE of San Antonio, TX this morning at 11:30. No details yet on the shooter, the motive, etc.
Thoughts and prayers for the victims and families. As well as for the armed neighbors that responded before the police arrived.
“When Mr. Kelley emerged from the church, an armed neighbor exchanged gunfire with him, hitting Mr. Kelley, who fled in his vehicle. Neighbors apparently followed him, chasing him into the next county, Guadalupe County, where Mr. Kelley crashed his car. Mr. Kelley was found dead in his vehicle.”
Thanks for the update, jlong! I had heard that it was one citizen that grabbed his rifle away from him, but hadn’t heard this part about several neighbors. About to read the article you posted!
Wow! I’m REALLY impressed with this article. I can’t BELIEVE that The NY Times included the full one hour video of their service from 10/29! I’ve NEVER seen that before!

Yes, that’s what I just told someone below. The church is clapboard, if that tells you anything—a very old, country style church building. A small community. I think they’re going to need a lot of outside help to investigate this.
My heart is breaking. This hits really close to home. Both the pastor and his wife were out of state, in separate states, but their 14 yo daughter is dead, among many others. I just can’t imagine that happening to us!

No. I read several different stories from CNN, BBC, etc. and they haven’t even begun to piece it together yet. It looks to be a very small community. The church was clapboard, if that tells you anything. I’m assuming they’re probably going to need a lot of outside help.
