Would you want a close female friend/family member to travel to India?
Interesting mix. I know a young America man who lives in Turkey. He's been there a few years - I'm not sure he'll ever come back to live in the US.
Oops, replied above :p
Turkey is the only one of my top 5 we have been to, and so far it's our #1 favorite place in the world
What are the others, army?
India is in my top 5 of dream destinations
We had church friends who were there with Frontiers that did tours through the mountains. They were based in Delhi. I always wanted to go visit when they were there, as they knew all the appropriate things, but never made it over. They're in Singapore now (no thanks).
It's still a have destination for white Europeans, mainly British, so I don't know either.
I haven't known anyone who traveled around India since the 70s & 80s. I don't really know the relative safety for an American there now.
There are a bunch of "tips for women traveling alone in India" articles online. Some are pretty obvious - modest clothing, wear sensible native clothing (not saris) etc. Others I wouldn't have thought of - if you get in a cab, call someone (or at least pretend to) & give them the cab number.
Yea I feel the same. For my wife, I confident she could take care of herself, to an extent. Her CCW doesn't transfer in India though :p
Depends on where they would go and who they'd be with.
