Iran has sent five planeload of food to Doha as the Qatari people face food shortages amid the Saudi-led blockade. As the White House takes Riyadh's side in this diplomatic crisis are we at risk of pushing Qatar into Iran's alliance?
Oh man, Saudi is really pushing it. They just need to calm down.
Qatar's government is still dominated by Salafis, so I'd be really surprised if they ever entered into explicit alliance with Iran.
Honestly, if I had to jump onto either ship I'd choose Qatar. Even if the accusations of them supporting the Muslim Brotherhood and Iran (both of which I oppose) are true, the accusations also point to their support of Israel which is something Saudi Arabia doesn't do. Besides, out of the entire Middle East the worst country I can think of is not Iran but Saudi Arabia. It's about time we jump off that ship.
Washington still doesn't get it . You are either Sunni or Shia and borders are for western folks
There is certainly growing sectarianism in the Middle East, but it's a gross exaggeration to say other forms of identity (national identity, class identity, kinship ties, etc) don't matter.
Supporting Iran now?
That's the allegation, although it's rather dubious.
And we have bases there!
Tehran is loving this turn of events.
This is a huge blunder. Ignited by Trumps gullibility and ignorance.....and fueled by his ego as he won't admit a mistake.
