Visualization: In this relaxation technique, you may form mental images to take a visual journey to a peaceful, calming place or situation. Have you tried this technique?
I've done it all. Doesn't really work. In the end I'm still in my living room when I open my eyes and real life problems are still there.
Meaning you can't de-stress using this technique?
There are lots of techniques to try. No one technique works for everyone.
I'm too old, too tired, too sick to believe any more. I used to read all the books "years ago" on finding myself, visualization, new age stuff, chakras, karma, miracles, colors, etc. So many things. 5 years of yoga. Life is what it is. One day at a time. Only then I didn't have to worry about going for a walk and getting mowed down by a van. Namaste indeed.
Believe? It's not about believing anything. It's about learning to relax and let go of stress in your body. Sure problems don't go away. Your ability to face them can change if you are relaxed and focused not wound tight.
Let's be pink 🌸🌸🍧💒🛍🎀👛👛👚👙💅🏻🐖🌷💞💓💗💝
I guess you crossed over to disrespectful.
No no I didn't mean anything. I was just trying to be cheery that's all. Sometimes writing here -meaning gets lost in translation. I thought you would like the pink, that's all 😀
I do like pink. It just came across as mocking me for trying to be positive.
Yes, I listened to some meditation and chakra balancing videos on YouTube that had this type of visualization technique.
Does it help you relax and feel less stressed?
Definitely but I am not doing them as much as I could. Right now I am listening to Mozart's songs.
I find Mozart calming to some effect. Some songs fire me up though. Not in a bad way. In an inspiring way.
Did you ask something
Let me set this cold drink down and knock the sand off my feet.
Not really sure how to take that?
I was meditating when I answered your poll on meditating.
I see. Hard to tell what was happening.
I've tried EMDR.
Did you find it helpful?
Yes. I still use a modified version of it and I replace negative thought with happy places.
I've tried, but I'm too "wiggly"
You just made me giggle. So you are so wound up you can't lay still?
I used to do this, it's very calming and relaxing.
I remember doing this in high school on mats on the gym floor.
Visualization: In this relaxation technique, you may form mental images to take a visual journey to a peaceful, calming place or situation.
To relax using visualization, try to incorporate as many senses as you can, including smell, sight, sound and touch. If you imagine relaxing at the ocean, for instance, think about the smell of salt water, the sound of crashing waves and the warmth of the sun on your body.
You may want to close your eyes, sit in a quiet spot, loosen any tight clothing, and concentrate on your breathing. Aim to focus on the present and think positive thoughts.
