The BRICS nations (the economic cooperation group of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, which have a combined GDP of $16.6 trillion) will contribute $0 to the Green Climate Fund, under the Paris Climate Accord.
The contributions, including our own, are VOLUNTARY. I don't know how many times I've had to say this
I don't think it's fair, but every one of those countries should contribute. The agreement wouldn't have been as widespread if it wasn't voluntary. And I don't care as much about the US's lack of financial contribution (that was a given for Trump's administration), it's the symbolic middle finger to the rest of the world that the US doesn't care about climate change enough to sign on a completely voluntary agreement with no enforcement mechanisms
Some of my friends who are in Korea have to go to seven Korea to get away from the pollution from China.
Do. Not. Care.
Because we don't live in a world of compromise anymore, they had a choice to support or decline. They declined.
