There were only 11,961 firearm homicides in 2014 and the amount of homicides has been dropping steadily since 1990. Over 40,000 people died from car accidents in 2016. Furthermore if you have a gun at your hip there is a virtually 0% chance that the gun will kill someone accidentally. If you're driving you are always at a high risk of being killed accidentally.

Almost everyone that uses one is trained and certified to do so by the government(who can do no wrong)

However let's not forget that approximately 64% of those people chose to do that to themselves bringing the number of those killed to around 12k

Meanwhile US motor death statistics reported by government only include those on public roads, they do not include parking lots, driveways and private roads

About 40,000 are killed by cars each year in America.
Far fewer by guns, it just makes for more headlines.
