State Opinion Poll Series #9: Is your opinion of Utah more positive or negative? In the comments section, list the things that first come to mind when you think about the Beehive State.
Mormons, highly negative
We drove through Utah once. I remember the Bonneville Salt Flats, the Great Salt Lake, a lovely stretch of road with mountains on one side and a lovely lake on the other, then beautiful state parks. I wish I could have stayed and explored. It's a beautiful state.
Mormons, salt lake. Not a place I'd like to live
Yay Utah! I love it here and will miss it when I move away to grad school. I think of Mormons (I am one), snow, 5 national parks (as many as or more than any other state), mountains, skiing, and conservatives. I love my state.
My sis @Imanag lives there, so positive!
Negative - polygamy!
Mormons, Bees/Beehives, honey, salt lake, and Salt Lake City, and the shape.
Mormons, conservative, polygamy, child abuse, corruption,
I don't like the deliberate disregard for "separation of church and state". I drink. Let me get alcohol where I want. I want to shop on Sunday without it being an issue.
It was pretty boring living there. And if you aren't Mormon, you're a complete outsider.
I think of the first time I saw the Great Salt Lake from the air. An amazing natural formation..
Great salt lake: P
The Arches: P
Bryce Canyon: P
Family tree research: P
Too religious: N
Opinion on Utah:
Pros: Moab, 4x4, Family Oriented, Seasonal Weather, Scenic, Gun Rights
Cons: Predominantly Mormon
I want to live there.
Positive. I've only been to the four corners region and monument valley which were really cool. When I think of Utah I think of Salt Lake City and mormons.
Positive. The southern part of the state is one of the most beautiful areas in the USA. Lol also when I think of Utah, I also think of hot babes, because for some reason a lot of the cutest girls at my high school were Mormons.
Every time I read something about hot Mormon girls, I have to chuckle. 😂
I actually had a friend in college who suggested that we change our band name to Hot Mormons. That didn't fly.
One of my favorite states!!! Gorgeous nature, nice people, and 34 state reciprocity on their concealed carry permit!!!
I live in Utah and I like it. I like the scenery, the mountains, hiking, biking, the Great Salt Lake, Bryce Canyon, whitewater rafting, 4th of July here is great, and the people are really nice (until they start driving!). Utah is more diverse than people think.
Where abouts are you? I've lived in Sandy, Riverton (went to Riverton High School for a bit), and Lehi.
I do not know enough about the state.
But I am going with positive.
Mormons, ski resorts, Bryce Canyon, Great Salt Lake
Positive! It is in my top 5 favorite states because I have so many great memories there.
I think of my cousins, whom I only see once a year when we visit them in Utah. I also think of the beautiful ski resorts and incredible landscape.
Healthy people, beautiful women, weird religion, oppressive culture. Lean positive, but mixed.
Very positive. I think of Bryce Canyon, Mormons, snow-capped mountains, the Great Salt Lake, the Arches, Moab, polygamy, natural beauty, skiing, hiking, Brigham Young, and devoutly religious people.
