Seconds after school choice vouchers are approved nationwide, the ACLU will file a lawsuit and a liberal judge will issue an order to stop religious ed and faith based school policies in private religious schools receiving federally funded vouchers.

To stop discriminatory practices, perhaps. Don't want to comply with laws everyone else has to, don't accept federal money. ::shrug:: seems fair to me.

The Communists will try but we have freedom of religion in the First Amendment so they can go to hell.

School vouchers seem to be helping students in D.C. schools.

As practiced, their job is to protect illiberal regressive lack of values.

True, they tend to favor such discrimination by government.

If they do it like I've heard then the vouchers are just diverting a % of your taxes to the school you choose. Some of your tax money will stay with the school district you're already sending money to. If the government does it write though they will put the money back in the parents hands. That way they're not responsible where the money goes. I'm not very versed in law, but that could still let religious schools have that money.

I don't know if I agree it will happen that way, but I do agree it should. So here's hoping.

I certainly hope not, but of that happens, then the appeals courts and ultimately the Supreme a Court can intervene

Federal monies should not go to religious schools, period!
Im fine with vouchers, but the problem we will see here is that the money will come form the poorer schools because the richer schools don't use the same amount of state/federal money. So, if parents from north Scottsdale (rich area) that uses NO state money, put their kids in a private school, their vouchers will take money from the other public schools. Not right...

Also, the ACLU protects all of our rights. And if they file a suit, it's not a "liberal" judge that makes the decision to act and put a hold on the action, it's the law that dictates that move.

"Federal monies should not go to religious schools, period"

That issue has already been resolved in favor of private religious universities, so the legal precedent is on my side.

Nik
05/24/17 7:04 pm

Yes, I know. I still have my opinion.

MrMilkdud
05/24/17 7:12 pm

Well, you might want to "educate yourself" about it so you don't come off as ignorant of legal precedents in the future.

Nik
05/24/17 7:16 pm

Milk, I am well aware of this. And I am pretty far from ignorant.
I stated an opinion, if you didn't get that, well I don't know what to say...

MrMilkdud
05/24/17 7:17 pm

You should still "educate yourself" because you disagree with me.

Nik

Oh... ok...
I will defer to the expert of all things.

Nik
05/24/17 7:22 pm

That, my friend has nothing to do with disagreeing or not, the ACLU gets bad press because all you hear from the media is the controversial actions.

MrMilkdud
05/24/17 7:24 pm

There is room for legitimate disagreement about the ACLU's actions, benefit to society, and political leanings.
It isn't a matter of people being uneducated. It's just a matter of them disagreeing with you.

MrMilkdud
05/24/17 7:25 pm

Pretending otherwise is just a way for you to shut down dissent and belittle your opposition.

Nik
05/24/17 7:25 pm

Catching on?
I guess my point is that I really think people don't do the work/research needed to have an in depth debate/discussion about things.

MrMilkdud
05/24/17 7:27 pm

No, you just think people who disagree with you "don't do the work/research needed to have an in depth debate/discussion about things."

That's really the spirit behind your "educate your selves" (sic) comment.

Nik
05/24/17 7:28 pm

Yes, there is room...
I've had this talk many, many times, I find (mostly) that people form an opinion from media input, family, and friends. If they would look into it just a little they might change their opinions.

MrMilkdud
05/24/17 7:29 pm

Then make that case instead of declaring that everyone with a different opinion about the ACLU is ignorant.

Nik
05/24/17 7:33 pm

Milk, we seldom agree but I do respect you and I don't think you are trying to be insulting.
I have tried to open peoples minds to thinking differently and seeing any issue from different and angles. ✌️

MrMilkdud

I now understand the DUD in Milk's name.
Every Judge that doesn't agree with him is a "LIBERAL" Judge.

MrMilkdud
05/25/17 6:42 am

No, they're just a bad judge.
Most of the time they're also liberal.

MrMilkdud
05/25/17 6:43 am

In this particular case, they would be both.

JustHarry FL
05/25/17 6:48 am

Got it. If a Judge doesn't agree with you he/she is Liberal and wrong. If a Judge does agree with you, he/she is a brilliant Constitutionalist.

Yes. I'm glad I could help clear that up for you.

They will, but it will be attacked until some activist judge calls it unconstitutional.
