Despite including massive cuts to the social safety net, Trump's budget will result in huge deficits unless US GDP growth rises to 3% per year, which almost certainly won't happen. Will Trump make the impossible happen?

4% growth is totally possible and sustainable

What makes you put 3% in your "magical"column. It is totally doable.

This can't be true! On May 20 of last year, Trump himself tweeted "I was the first & only potential GOP candidate to state there will be no cuts to Social Security, Medicare & Medicaid."

You must be misunderstanding Trump's budget. He wouldn't go back on a campaign promise this early in his term, would he?

You are right, it isn't true. There are no cuts to Social Security or Medicare. The expansion of Medicaid is what is to be cut.

Social security payments and Medicare aren't touched. The expansion of Disability and Medicaid are slowed.

If you read the article, instead of just the headline, and the framing of it, you will find the facts, not the false spin.

No, I read it. It says that it's based on the assumption that Trump's healthcare plan passes. Even if you're optimistic, that's a long shot.

There's also this line:
But as Center for American Progress Director of Fiscal Policy Harry Stein pointed out on Twitter, Social Security does see significant cuts in the form of Social Security Disability Insurance.

Yes, expansion plans for Disability and for Medicaid have been reduced.

So Trump is going back on his campaign promise.

No. Social Security payments and Medicare aren't touched.

Republican economic policy - cut essential services for the poor, cut taxes for the rich, hope for huge economic growth - completely fails in times of low population growth. If population ain't growing fast in a developed nation, GDP ain't growing fast either.

Only immigration can solve this problem. Want economic growth? Vote a straight D ticket.
